Animer le paysage: Sur la piste des vivants

This exhibition seeks to draw a way to be a part of the landscape, to move from the position of exteriority to the nature that is defined by our imagination and modern representations, to an exploration of the interior.
By following the animals’ trails in a forest, or the global path followed for the production of maize or the footsteps of ecologists, hunters and farmers, the exhibited artists offer a new perspective of experiencing the landscape which is not intended to be pleasing to the human eye, but a living territory, made up of relationships between us, humans, and other living and acting entities. Following a multidisciplinary approach that stands at the crossroads of natural sciences, social sciences and art, these works propose another way of representing nature, from the ‘inside’, that is to say in relation to the living beings who inhabit it. The plot of these works is made up of presences, traces, stories, and human and non-human testimonies collected in the hunting domain of Belval (Ardennes), which also serves as a place of research on the biodiversity and a residence of artists at the Fondation François Sommer which also support the Musée de la chasse et de la nature.
